Horrible from the start

I wanted to love this game...Im a huge fan of LOTR, LEGO, & mobile gaming. But, it is just horrid. The controls, the guidance...it is just bad, bad, bad. I gave this two stars for ok graphics & not crashing.

100% amazing

Completely worth buying and playing. Super fun, every level is based on exactly how the movie is and I love it! I play on an iPod touch 4g and have no problems at all. Very happy with it!

Great game but some glitches

Overall it is a great game bit one glitch is when I use Sams Elven Rope it will sometimes be white but at other times it is tan/light brown. Also I really want to know who the characters that you get at the end of the game are!!!! If you could please show the characters Picture or token.

Lord of the rings is my life

I am a huge lord of the rings fan have all the movies and books including the hobbit; this game is amazing no matter what people say you yourself get to go on your own adventure this game is worth it and playing all the characters is great I dont even have words to describe by the way it is very addicting so if your a LOTR FAN then it is worth getting the game

Lagging issues

This game has way to many lagging issues that cause it lose your progress constantly & you need to cash to buy character/items in the game I am not happy with this game at all

Great for the price!

I just bought this game and am addicted! Great for entertainment, great for any LOTR fan! Havent experienced any glitches as of yet. I think it was well worth the price!

Great, but needs some changes

Lego Lord of The rings. A fun game, but has a couple changes you need to make. For one thing, I can not find the way to Mordor or any of the other places as easily as I do in the Lego Lord of the Rings Wii game. Where on middle earth is Arwen, and why cant you go into the prancing pony? Ugh. Lord of the Rings movies are great. I like how in the wii game the ring wraiths sharpen their swords before stabbing Frodo, but this game? Noooooo. Please oh Please oh PLEASE make these changes. Thank you for reading this review. If you agree with what I say, friend me on Game Center. Write "Naomi Drew" or "Omi the Dancer." Thank you again.

Unplayable with these control schemes

As with most console-to-mobile ports, the controls are horrendous. I fiddled around with both control schemes for 10 minutes before it became clear that the game simply wouldnt be enjoyable without an external controller.

Excellent

I would like it to have a better display for iPhone 6/6 Plus though

Fun but when you get to a level it sucks

It was fun until I got to a level when it said I was done with the game even though i did 5 levels it is a waste of money and space

Good game

Its a good game but in battle of helms deep there is a glitch that doesnt let me finish he level, play it yourself in story mode to find out

Good but needs better controller support.

Having fun but would be way better if I could use the left stick on my controller to move instead of the D-pad. If youre going to add controller support, having options for individual preference is also important.

Not a direct port-over

When I purchased this, I did so because it appeared to be a direct port-over from the console version I had played. After all, Lego Star Wars, also available on the App Store, is a direct port-over from the consoles we love with the only changes being the elements that force us to buy the game in sections. Furthermore, KOTOR made it on to the App Store as a direct port over, so it didnt seem too difficult. All in all its not a bad game but I stopped playing it because it wasnt as good as the version I play on my laptop, which is the console version. If I want mobile LEGO LOTR, I have my laptop. If youre content to settle for the fact that its on the iPad, fine.

Some suggestions

The price for cool guys are way to high... They should be a little cheaper, and make a setting were you can enlarge the control buttons so the move analog stick can ACTUALLY fit peoples thumbs. If you do that then the game would be more awesome then minecraft.

Great game, but...

Some of the things are hard to find. The character tokens and treasures can be extremely difficult to find. For instance, Ive been stuck in Dunharrow for days unable to find the character token. But fun overall. I find it so amusing that a lot of idiots cant work the controler. Its so easy. And the new Batman (Batman Beyond Gotham) is the best, controller-wise. Very easy.

Rohan

I am stuck and dont know what to do with the gaurds, they wont let me pass. Other than this the game is worth the money, i love it and great gameplay!

Couple wishes

Ok first Id like to say the game is fun. The only problem is there are tons of glitches like falling into lava without moving the arrows. And I also wish that like wii or other type of game console type of LOTR game was in This game cause the wii version is more free roam in levels so I wish that could be added.

Bare Bones Brilliance

A great port of the games portable (not console) version, albeit with annoying advertisements and less-than-subpar gamepad support.

Greedy

$5 for ads and in-app purchases... Nice

An absolute delight!

If you are a LOTR fan, then this is a must while its on sale for only a buck! For a buck you can get a McDonald coke, maybe a candy bar on sale but for a measley buck you can get LEGO LOTR! An outstanding value! I just added this to my LEGO Batman collection this afternoon and have played about 1 hour. Like I said, if you like LOTR then this will put a smile on your face. You have some cutscenes redone LEGO style with voice overs from the movie. The music is straight from the movie as well. The shire was fun but the music a little redundant after awhile but very whimsical. If you havent played LEGO games before they are creative, humorous and just overall fun. There have been many negative comments about the controls and I would tend to agree it can be frustrating. There are two options: swipe and tap or virtual joystick/button controls. The virtual stick is more accurate but it does have its issues with sensitivity and odd camera angles sometimes. As a gamer from commodore 64, Atari 2600, nes, snes, gamecube, dreamcast, wii, and ps3- yes mobile gaming can be really tough. But for me I know the limitations and adapt to it. So the controls arent a deal buster. Is LOTR fun and playable- for sure. Are the controls for everyone, maybe not for thoughs who have high expectations of mobile gaming. LOTR certainly is worth the price of admission especially with all the content you get. 4.5 stars out of 5.
